Code 64 (Timing Intervention)

IGNITION TIMING INTERVENTION DURING DOWNSHIFTS (with EGS only)
Explanation
This trouble code is stored when the wire from the Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit Pin 51 to the Electronic Transmission Control (EGS) control unit Pin 24 has a short to ground (>2.5 sec).

NOTE: The ignition timing (angle) intervention occurs in such a case only once. The signal is then ignored and the automatic transmission is in the emergency program.

Troubleshooting
- Check wire between DME control unit and EGS control unit.
- Proceed with displayed scan tool diagnostic instructions where applicable.
