Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor: Adjustments

EML Accelerator Pedal Adjustment:





IDLE POSITION
^ Loosen the hexagon nut (1), on the pedal value sender.
^ Produce a 3 mm (0.118") gap "A" between the accelerator pedal shaft and the idle stop (2). Clamp a feeler gage blade or something similar at "A" to maintain the gap.
^ Tighten the hexagon nut (1), on the pedal value sender. Be sure to support the lever on the pedal value sender while tightening.

FULL LOAD POSITION
Manual Trans
^ Operate the accelerator pedal to kickdown pressure point in the pedal value sender.
^ Turn the knurled head screw (3) to bear on the accelerator pedal in this position. Lock the the knurled head screw.

Auto Trans
^ Operate the accelerator pedal to kickdown pressure point in the pedal value sender.
^ Adjust the knurled head screw (3), in this position to have a distance of 6 mm (0.236"), between the knurled head screw and the accelerator pedal. Lock the knurled head screw.

NOTE: If BMW special tools are available, compare the actual values displayed on the tester with nominal values.

Idle = min. 353 mV
Idle = max. 451 mV

Full Load:
Manual Trans = 3.15 - 3.3 V
Auto Trans = 3.7 - 3.8 V
