Engine: Service and Repair

CAUTION: Mark installation position of components, electrical connectors and hoses prior to removal.

1. Relieve fuel system pressure as outlined under "Precautions."
2. Raise and lock hood into service position
3. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
4. Drain coolant system, then remove all heat shields from front suspension crossmember.
5. Remove transmission as outlined under "Clutch & Manual Transmission" or "Automatic Transmission."
6. Remove radiator and expansion tank as outlined under "Radiator, Replace."
7. Remove upper air cleaner and mass air flow sensor as an assembly.
8. Remove right and left cable ducts, then disconnect and reposition wiring and connectors for engine removal clearance.
9. Disconnect throttle cable, speed control cable and brackets.
10. Disconnect coolant and heater hoses, then remove alternator.
11. Drain engine oil, then remove oil filter.
12. Remove power steering pump without disconnecting lines and secure aside.
13. Disconnect fuel lines from fuel rails, use caution as fuel lines may contain residual pressure.
14. Remove oil from power steering pump reservoir, then disconnect hose.
15. Disconnect remaining hydraulic lines and their brackets from engine
16. Remove A/C compressor without disconnecting lines and secure aside.
17. Remove bolts and ground wires from motor mounts.
18. Connect suitable engine hoisting equipment only to provided lifting eyes on engine.
19. Remove engine from vehicle.
20. Reverse procedure to install.
