Water Pump: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove check valve for cylinders 1-6.
2. Remove lower vehicle splash and heat shields, then drain coolant.
3. Remove coolant reservoir tank and upper fan shroud.
4. Remove serpentine drive belts.
5. Remove hoses and support brackets from water pump.
6. Remove fan and water pump pulley, then disconnect temperature sensor.
7. Remove crankshaft pulley, then the vent hose and brackets.
8. Remove water pump retaining bolts, insert and uniformly tighten three suitable size bolts into threaded holes of pump body, then press pump from cover.
9. Reverse procedure to install, replace all O-ring seals.
