Replacing Radial Seal on Manual Shift Valve Shaft




Replacing Radial Seal On Manual Shift Valve Shaft (A5S 560Z)

Note: After completing these operations, check the transmission oil level and top up if necessary, refer to "Checking Oil Level In Automatic Transmission"

- Move selector lever to "P" setting.
- Remove rear splash guard.




Cable clamping up to 8.95:
- Fit special tool 24 5 240 to the shift lever.

Note: Only possible to fit in "P" setting.

- Loosen nut (1).

Installation:
- Adjust shift lever,




Cable clamping from 8.95:
- Brace clamping bush (1) and loosen nut (2).

Installation:
- Adjust shift lever,




- Remove retaining plate (1) with a screwdriver.
- Remove cable (2).




- Unfasten nut.
- Remove shift lever.

Installation:
- Tightening torque: 10 Nm




- Remove radial seal with special tool 24 5 260.




Installation:
- Fit special tool 24 5 490 to manual shift valve shaft.
- Coat sealing lip of new radial seal (1) with transmission oil.
- Slide radial seal onto the manual shift valve shaft.




Installation:
- Press radial seal into transmission case with special tool 24 5 250.
- Pull off special tool 24 5 490 from the manual shift valve shaft.




Radial shaft seal on position switch:
- Unfasten screws and remove heat shield.




- Unscrew screw.
- Remove position switch from manual shift valve shaft.




- Remove radial seal with special tool 24 5 260.




Installation:
- Fit special tool 24 5 490 to manual shift valve shaft.
- Coat sealing lip of new radial seal (1) with transmission oil.
- Slide radial seal onto the manual shift valve shaft.




Installation:
- Press radial seal into transmission case with special tool 24 5 250.
- Pull off special tool 24 5 490 from the manual shift valve shaft.
