Cylinder Identification Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVE AND INSTALL
- Remove complete upper section of suction filter housing with mass air flow sensor.
- Unfasten cable connector
- Remove cover from distributor cap
- Senders are fitted to the ignition lead of cylinder numbers 6 and 12.
Right Cylinder Bank 1...6
NOTE: 4 = inductive impulse sensor,
3 = cylinder identification sender
- Remove number 6 ignition lead from the distributor cap.
- Disconnect suppression plug from ignition lead.
- Cut off the ignition lead end.
- Cut the sensor off of the ignition lead.
- Slide new sensor onto cylinder 6 ignition lead approximately 3 in.
- Replace the ignition lead end and shielded plug.
- Reinstall the number 6 ignition lead at the distributor cap.
- Reinstall the distributor cap cover.
Left Cylinder Bank 7...12
NOTE: 1 = cylinder identification sender
2 = inductive impulse sensor
- Remove number 12 ignition lead from the distributor cap.
- Disconnect suppression plug from ignition lead.
- Cut off the ignition lead end.
- Cut the sensor off of the ignition lead.
- Slide new sensor onto cylinder 12 ignition lead approximately 3 in.
- Replace the ignition lead end and shielded plug.
- Reinstall the number 12 ignition lead at the distributor cap.
- Reinstall the distributor cap cover.
