Defect Code 17

*D* Defect code memory: Door lock heating defective

Explanation:

- This defect code is stored when a defect is found via the diagnostic link (diagnostic feedback).

Troubleshooting:

Exit defect code memory *D* select test procedure, select door lock heating and activate door lock heating (in BMW MoDIC via component activation!). Perform activation twice to ensure the door lock is thoroughly heated.

If door lock is heated:

- Clear defect code memory.

- Then lock vehicle and wait 35 seconds.

- Lift door handle, wait 10 seconds.

- Unlock vehicle, switch on ignition, D select defect code memory again.

- If the Defect Code 17 has been stored once again, the diagnostic link (diagnostic feedback) from the load circuit of the door lock heating to the ZVM, connector 26-pole Pin 10 has a break. Repair line.

- If the defect code is not stored, the cause of the defect is no longer applicable.

Door lock is not heated during activation:

- Check heating coil on door lock by measuring resistance. The resistance of a heating coil when operating correctly is 2-3 Ohm.

- Check ground wire to heating coil.

- Check wire from heating coil to relay.

- If heating coil and wires are okay, renew relay for door lock heating.
