SUBJECT:
Coding of Replacement Driveaway Protection (EWS II) Control Modules

MODELS:
All produced 1/95 and later

General Information:
If it becomes necessary to replace a Driveaway Protection (EWS II) Control Module, the EWS II Control Module must be coded to the vehicle into which it is being installed.

If this coding is not performed, the EWS II Control Module will not evaluate the input from the transmission range switch, if installed in a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission. This could result in the vehicle being able to start in a transmission range other than Park or Neutral.

For further details concerning coding the EWS II Control Module, refer to Technical Reference bulletin 61 01 95 (2144) or to IDC Bulletin 1009/95-14.

Warranty Status: Information only.
