Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Throttle Valve Potentiometer:

PURPOSE
The throttle potentiometer indicates the exact position of the throttle valve to the Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit.

OPERATION
The DME control unit provides a reference voltage to the potentiometer. Resistance in the potentiometer modifies the returning voltage to the DME control unit, indicating the position of the throttle valve.

Since the control unit is adaptive, the closed throttle position is self learned and the potentiometer needs no adjustment.
