Installation Instructions For Alarm Module P/N 82 11 1 469 868: Overview

Important Notes:
Please read through these instructions before installing the Alarm Module. These instructions are in three sections ("All models except 318ti and Z3"; "318ti Only"; and "Z3 Roadster Only"). Follow the instructions for the appropriate model.

The mounting position of the module and the settings for the dip switches inside the module are extremely important in order to gain the maximum benefits from the improvements made to the module.

Additional information concerning initializing remote transmitters and adjusting dip switches are found at the end of this attachment.

^ All 3 Series models (except 318ti and Z3)





Remove the passenger side lower trim panel. Remove the insulation material (1) and any adhesive residue from the area shown in the illustration.

A = 178 mm (7")
B = 203 mm (8")
C = 102 mm (4")





Locate and drill a 19 mm (3/4") diameter hole (1) in the trim panel as shown.

A = 181 mm (7 1/8")
B = 131 mm (5 1/8")





Connect the replacement alarm module to the green alarm connector. Initialize the customer's transmitters to the replacement alarm module. (See "Initializing Transmitters" at the end of these instructions).

Remove the four screws securing the case halves of the alarm module together.





The Glass Breakage Sensitivity Dip Switches are located inside the alarm module, and are factory pre-set to position 1 "on" and position 2 "off" (mid-sensitivity setting).

A = ON
B = OFF

All 318i and 328i, 2-Door and 4-Door Hardtop models should have these switches set to position 1 "off" and position 2 "off" (high sensitivity).

All Convertible models should have these switches set to position 1 "on" and position 2 "off" (mid sensitivity).

Reassemble the alarm module.





Affix Velcro(R) strips (1) to the upper surface of the alarm module. The BMW label and microphone opening must face down when mounting the alarm module. Mount the alarm on the trim panel as shown, positioning the module so that the microphone (2) is aligned over the 19 mm (3/4") diameter hole. Reinstall the trim panel.

318ti Only





Remove the passenger side lower trim panel. Remove the insulation material (1) and any adhesive residue from the area shown in the illustration.

A = 178 mm (7")
B = 203 mm (8")
C = 102 mm (4")





Locate and drill a 19 mm (3/4") diameter hole (1) in the trim panel as shown.

A = 181 mm (7 1/8")
B = 131 mm (5 1/8")





Connect the replacement alarm module to the green alarm connector. Remove the four screws securing the case halves of the replacement alarm module together. Initialize the customer's transmitters to the replacement alarm module. (See "Initializing Transmitters" at the end of these instructions). Remove the four screws securing the case halves of the alarm module together.

Remove the glove box assembly and the passenger side lower trim panel. Remove the alarm module. Connect the replacement alarm module to the green alarm connector. Initialize the customer's transmitters to the replacement alarm module. (See "Initializing Transmitters" at the end of these instructions). Remove the four screws securing the case halves of the alarm module together.





The Glass Breakage Sensitivity Dip Switches are located inside the alarm module, and are factory pre-set to position 1 "on" and position 2 "off" (mid-sensitivity setting).

A = ON
B = OFF

Z3 models should retain these settings (position 1 "on" and position 2 "off").

Reassemble the alarm module. Affix Velcro(R) strips (1) to the replacement module as shown. Position the alarm module so that the antenna (3) is on the right side, the alarm harness (2) is on the left side, and the integrated microphone (4) is facing down.





Insert the alarm module (2) into the upper slot (1) of the electrical carrier housing. Reassemble the lower trim panel and glove box assembly.
