Ignition Timing Control
DESCRIPTIONOn the basis of the engine speed and load signals, the Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit determines the ignition angle (ignition timing) which is output via the ignition output stage. This function also takes into consideration other input signals such as the engine temperature, intake air temperature, throttle position and the Electronic Transmission Control (EGS).
Double Ignition:
Double ignition means activation of the spark plugs for each crankshaft revolution and takes place if the camshaft sender does not put out signals. Switching over from normal to double ignition, or vice versa, takes place immediately in contradiction to fuel injection.
