Exhaust System: Service and Repair

Disconnect connector for oxygen sensor. Unclip the cable from the retainer.





Loosen the bolt connection of the flange.

Installation:
Check gaskets and replace if necessary. Replace self-locking nuts. Coat threads with copper paste.





Automatic transmission
Remove the suspension.

Note: The transmission remains supported by the rear bearing.





Loosen the clamp on the exhaust bracket.





Installation:
After the installation of the exhaust system is complete, align the exhaust bracket without tension.





Support the exhaust system using special tool 00 2 030 in conjunction with special tool 31 2 220.
Disconnect rubber rings at centre mount.

Installation:
Check rubber gaskets for damage, replacing them if necessary.





Disconnect the rear retaining bracket on left and right sides.
Take off exhaust assembly in downwards direction.
Pull the vacuum hose off of the vacuum pot.





Installation:
Check rubber mounts for damage, replacing them if necessary.
Preload rubber mount in forwards driving direction by distance A -15 mm.





Installation:
Check the position of the end pipes to the body-cutout.
If necessary, loosen the flanged joints and rubber suspensions; align and refasten the exhaust system.
