Trouble Code 206 (Incorrect Fault Display)

INCORRECT FAULT INDICATION
Explanation
The transmission fault lamp lights in the instrument cluster despite normal operation of the transmission.

Possible Cause
The wire from the Electronic Transmission Control (EGS) control unit Pin 25 to the instrument cluster has a break or a short to positive.

Troubleshooting
Check signal at EGS control unit Pin 25.

- Ground is applied at Pin 25 after ignition "ON".
- A data telegram is transferred after engine start. (Clocked change between high and low level at approx. 0.5 sec intervals).
- If EGS control unit signals a fault (defect code detected), it switches battery voltage to Pin 12.
