Trouble Code 22 (Oil Temperature Sensor)

OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Explanation
This defect code is stored when the temperature sensor value exceeds or falls below the limit value.

- Break or short to positive (-> Minimum temperature)
- Short to ground (-> Maximum temperature)

Effect of defect
a), b) A substitute value of 212°F 100°C is used.
c) The transmission oil overheats and ages prematurely. A gear oil change is recommended.

Possible cause
Wire from control unit Pin 21 and 22 to oil sump temperature sensor defective, or oil sump temperature sensor (soldered in wire harness of the gearshift unit) defective.

Troubleshooting
Perform status monitoring. Compare displayed transmission oil temperature with actual situation. The temperature of 212°F 100°C indicates the use of the substitute value. Check wires and resistance in accordance with component testing.
