Test 01 - Harness/Wheel Sensor

TEST SEQUENCE
1. Connections needed:
- T-plug (4a) with adapter (A) on Antilock Brake System (ABS) wire harness (1)
- Connecting lead from adapter (A) to cigar lighter, control lamp (red) lights up
2. Switch position on adapter (A) to model "3" and test step 01 (left).

Nominal Values

3. Compare the displayed actual values obtained from the test equipment with the nominal values provided above. (if 999 k Ohms flashes, this indicates > 999 k Ohms). If nominal values are not obtained, proceed with the troubleshooting procedures below as needed.

TROUBLESHOOTING

NOTE: Turn "Off" ignition for individual measurements, control unit not connected.

Wires and [1][2]Speed Sensor (DF)
Front Left (VL) B2
1. Check connector VL X114 (visual inspection).
2. Detach connector VL, DF display must then be > 999 k-ohms, if the DF display is less: Defect in wire harness.
3. Check Pin 4 and 6, X11 for continuity: Bypass wire harness side of VL connector, DF display must be < 1 ohms, if DF display is greater: Defect in wire harness.
4. Measure resistance at the DF side of the connector. If nominal value is not obtained: Replace [1][2]speed sensor VL.

Front Right (VR) B1
1. 1. and 2. as above, but with connector VR X113.
3. Check Pin 11 and 21, X11 for continuity: Bypass wire harness side of connector VR, DF display must be < 1 ohms, if DF display is greater: Defect in wire harness.
4. As above: Replace [1][2]speed sensor VR.

Rear Left (HL) B4
1. 1. and 2. as above, but with connector HL X142.
3. Check Pin 7 and 9, X11 for continuity: Bypass wire harness side of connector HL, DF display must be < 1 ohms, if DF display is greater: Defect in wire harness.
4. As above: Replace [1][2]speed sensor HL.

Rear Right (HR) B3
1. 1. and 2. as above, but with connector HR X143.
3. Check Pin 24 and 26, X11 for continuity: Bypass wire harness side of connector HR, DF display must be < 1 ohms, if DF display is greater: Defect in wire harness.
4. As above: Replace [1][2]speed sensor HR.

[1][2]Speed Sensor Resistance To Ground
1. Visually check for damage to wires and lines (connection to vehicle ground - insulation resistance).
2. Disconnect DF connections one after the other. If display > 999 k-ohms: Replace corresponding [1][2]speed sensor.

[1][2]Speed Sensor Resistance To B+
3. If display remains < 999 k-ohms: Defect in wire harness. Also refer to test step 03 for DF testing!

Safety Lamp
- Display > 80 ohms: ABS indicator lamp defective or check for poor contact of lamp. renew if necessary. Check connections at lamp and terminal 15.
- Display < 10 ohms: Check wire 1 and 29 for a short.
- Measure resistance between Pin 29 and fuse F 17 output.
- Display 999 k-ohms = Lamp defective or break in wire.
