Removing Ignition Coils

REPLACING IGNITION COILS

- Switch off ignition.




Version 1: (acoustic cover screwed down)
- Remove seal caps (1) and unfasten nuts (2).
- Remove acoustic cover.




Version 2: (acoustic cover with press-stud fastener)
- Open press-studs (1 ... 4) one at a time, at the same time lifting the acoustic cover slightly.
- Once all four press-studs have been opened, remove the acoustic cover.

Installation Note: Position acoustic cover and press downwards until press-studs (1 ... 4) click into place.




- Remove sealing caps, unfasten nuts.
- Remove cover from ignition coils.




- Unfasten plug connection.




- Unfasten screws on ignition coils.

Installation Note:
On ignition coils for cylinders 3 and 6, ground straps (1) on cylinder head cover must be secured to ignition coil screw connections. Interrogate fault memory of control unit on Digital Engine Electronics (DME), check fault messages in memory, rectify faults and cancel fault memory.
