Front Wheel Hub and Bearing Replace

The hub and bearing on these models are a matched set and should not be reused after removal.

1. Raise and support front of vehicle and remove wheels.
2. Remove bolts securing caliper bracket to spindle, then the caliper and bracket assembly.
3. Remove brake rotor securing bolt, then the rotor.
4. Remove hub cover, chisel away staked portion of nut, then remove hub retaining nut.
5. Remove hub assembly using suitable puller.
6. If inner bearing race remains on spindle, remove race as follows:
a. Remove nuts securing brake rotor dust shield and the dust shield.
b. Push back hub dust shield, install guide sleeve to protect spindle threads, then remove bearing race using suitable puller.
c. Inspect spindle if damaged or scored.
d. Reinstall rotor dust shield.
7. Install dust guard, then press replacement hub assembly using press tool No. 31 2 120, No. 31 2 110, or equivalent. Bearing and hub assemblies should not be reused after removal.
8. Install new retaining nut and tighten to specifications. Stake nut into spindle, then reverse remaining procedure to complete installation.
