Inputs

The two acceleration sensors are identical to those used on the EDC III system.

The acceleration sensors are installed above the front and rear axles on the right side.

The longitudinal acceleration sensor is no longer used. On the E38, dynamic longitudinal forces on the vehicle are calculated from the inputs of the front wheel speed sensors. In addition, the ABS left front wheel speed sensor input is used by the EDC III system to detect vehicle speed.

The wheel speed sensor input comes from the ABS/ASC control module. The input signal from the wheel speed sensor is processed and amplified by the ABS control module. The signal is then output to the EDC.

The program switch (sport/comfort) is a high/low input that is low for comfort and high for sport.

The steering angle sensor is also identical to the steering angle sensor of the E31/E32 EDC systems. It provides two variable resistance signals for turn recognition.
