The E38 power window system utilizes a new style cable regulator. The power window motor is connected to both ends of a bowden cable that is mechanically attached to the window lifting brackets.

When the power window motor is energized the cable is reeled in on one end and reeled out on the other end. This raises or lowers the window depending on polarity of the motor.

The E38 power window system incorporates a new anti-trap contact to initiate the power window anti-trap feature.

The contact strip is positioned along the upper sealing edge of the window frame. When the strip is lightly compressed at any point, the anti-trap function is activated.
