Drivers Seat Moves Without Request
MODEL:
7 Series E38, 5 Series E39
* Situation:
Customers may complain about one of two situations.
A) The position of the articulated (upper) portion of the comfort seat has changed. This may occur either after exiting from and returning to the vehicle or during an extended trip.
(B) The drivers seat changes position of its own accord. The articulated portion is not affected. *
Cause:
The above complaint may be caused by one of two situations:
A) The rocker switch for the articulated (upper) portion of the comfort seat back has been inadvertently contacted, thereby moving the upper portion of the seat.
* B) Software error in SM/LSM control module. *
Correction:
On a customer complaint basis only, for complaint:
A) The existing comfort seat rocker switch should be replaced with the switch for thigh support adjustment which has a recessed design.
* B) Replace SM/LSM control module with new module that has software version O6 or higher. To identify the different versions, raise the drivers seat and look at the label on the bottom side of the SM/LSM module (seat switch). The part number, hardware number, and software number are listed on this label. This can also be checked using the DIS or MODIC in the SM/LSM module identification page. *
*Note:
