Replacing Left Knock Sensors (cylinder Bank 5 To 8) (M60, M62)

Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit.
Switch off ignition.



Disconnect intake air manifold.


CAUTION!
Mixing up the knock sensor plug connections will result in engine damage.
The wiring and plug connections must correspond to the original routing. This eliminates the risk of mix-ups.



Knock sensor (3) monitors combustion in cylinders 5 and 6.
Knock sensor (4) monitors combustion in cylinders 7 and 8.







Release screws.


NOTE:
Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit.
Check stored fault messages.
Rectify faults.
Now clear the fault memory.
