Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection

Access the Pump
1. Remove the fuel pump access cover in the trunk.

Activate the Pump
2. With the ignition "OFF" disconnect fuel pump harness connector X638.
3. Connect a fused jumper between the positive battery terminal and terminal 5 of the electrical socket on the fuel pump.
4. Connect a fused jumper between terminal 4 of the fuel pump electrical socket and ground.

^ The fuel pump should run with a smooth audible humming sound. No interruptions or laboring effort should be detectable. If the fuel pump is suspected to have insufficient output refer to the Checking Fuel Supply for testing procedures.
