Compression Check: Testing and Inspection

CAUTION: Always remove the DME engine control master relay so that ignition coils will not be energized during compression pressure test.

1. Ensure battery is fully charged and coolant temperature is below 95°F.
2. Disconnect master relay and fuel pump relay from fuse box located at rear right corner of engine compartment.
3. Remove spark plugs, then install compression tester adapter tool No.11-0-166, or equivalent, into spark plug bore by hand.
4. Connect compression gauge tool No. 11-0-162, or equivalent, onto adapter.
5. Fully depress accelerator pedal and operate starter motor until compression pressure reading is at maximum.
6. Correct compression specification is 145-159 psi. All cylinders should not deviate by more than 6 psi.
