Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Cylinder ID Sensor Location:
PURPOSE
The cylinder identification sensor monitors number four piston position via a locating pin on the intake camshaft.
OPERATION
The sensor consists of a permanent magnet, iron core and a coil of wire. A magnetic field that increases and decreases is produced as the intake cam locator pin passes the sensor field. Input from the sensor is used to set up the firing order of the coils and full sequential fuel injection. If the signal is faulty, the control unit switches to parallel injection and double ignition
