Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Replacing Sensor For Cylinder Recognition (camshaft Sensor) (M60, M62)

Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit.
Switch off ignition.







Version 1
(Acoustic cover screwed down)
Remove seal caps (1) and unfasten nuts (2).
Remove acoustic cover.







Version 2
(Acoustic cover with press-stud fastener)
Open press-studs (1... 4) one at a time, at the same time lifting the acoustic cover slightly. Once all four press-studs have been opened, remove the acoustic cover.

Installation:
Position acoustic cover and press downwards until press-studs fasteners (1... 4) click audibly into place.







Disconnect plug-in connection (3).







Unscrew screw.
Remove sensor.

Installation:
Check seal for damage; replace if damaged.







Installation:
Note line routing on injection tube.
Secure line with cable connector.

Read out fault memory of control unit of Digital Motor Electronics (DME), check stored fault messages, rectify faults clear fault memory.
