Antenna Cable Elbow Plug, Repair

Cut off faulty antenna elbow plug directly after cable grip.

Carefully and with precision, strip insulation from antenna cable as illustrated (lengths given in mm). Brush shield (copper braid) towards rear. No more copper wire should be protruding in the direction of the inner conductor on the inner conductor insulation (danger of shorting).

Create a loop on inner conductor.

Thoroughly cover soldering area all round radio aperture in center console so that no blobs of melted solder can contaminate the inside area.

Tin-coat center connection on antenna angle plug and stripped inner conductor. Solder inner conductor on center connection with a small soldering iron (max. 50) and a suitable welding tip (1).

Gently push insulation forward to soldering point and pay attention to correct position of loop. It must not under any circumstances come into contact with the metal parts of the antenna plug.

Crimp cabel guid and cable grip with hand crimping tool 61 9 041 and matrix 61 9 044.
