The 750iL and the long wheel base version of the 740i completes the model introduction for the E38 line up. The 750iL incorporates all of the features found on the 740i plus it contains additional systems and features allowing it to become the flagship of the BMW product line.

The new M73 - V12 engine with the new DME M5.2 and Siemens EML IIIs is being introduced with the E38 750iL vehicle.

In addition to the new powertrain systems, the following systems are also being introduced on the 750iL:

- Park Distance Control (PDC)
- Dynamic Stability Control (ASC+T with DSC and CAN communication)
- Electronic Damping Control (EDC III - E38)
- Automatic Start Control (one touch starting)
- Universal Transmitter for garage door, entrance gates, home lighting and security systems.

The exterior dimensions of the E38 740iL have increased over the E32 740iL. The E38 will come with a new Xenon headlight system as standard equipment.

The suspension and brake systems have been redesigned to accommodate the new body style and increased size.

The 750iL will offer further interior refinements and appointments to distinguish it from its V8 counter parts.
