Removing Coolant Manifold

REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING COOLANT MANIFOLD
- Remove both cylinder head covers, Removing Cylinder Head Covers.
- Remove splash guard.
- Remove left heat baffle plate from front axle support.
- Unfasten coolant drain plug from left side of engine.
- Drain off coolant and dispose of correctly.

Installation Note:
- Replace sealing ring, torque drain plug to 28 ± 2 Nm (21 ± 1.5 ft lb).
- Top up coolant.
- Bleeding cooling system and checking for water leaks.




- Mark plug connection of impulse sensor on crankshaft (flywheel), press down interlock on connector and disconnect the connector.




- Mark plug connection for impulse sensor on the crankshaft (flywheel), press down interlock on connector and disconnect the connector.
- Unclip wiring harness on transmission and remove from brackets behind the cylinder head.

NOTE: Mark and note the sensor/connector locations and orientation.




- Unfasten hose clip. Remove coolant hose from back of coolant pipe.




- Unfasten hose clip. Remove coolant hose from back of cylinder head.




- Remove hose clips (1 to 3) on coolant hoses on the face wall of the heating unit.




- Unfasten screw.




- Cylinder head for cylinder bank 7 to 12: Loosen screws (1).




- Cylinder head on cylinder bank 1 to 6: Loosen screws (1).
- Remove coolant manifold.





Installation Note:
- Clean sealing faces (1) behind the cylinder heads and on coolant manifold, also replacing gaskets.
- Replace O-ring (2).
