Correction:

Based on the defect code stated on DCS for all affected vehicles:

^ Both throttle housing assemblies (DK motors) may need to be checked/replaced to insure that the latest version is installed.

^ The thickness of the PWG wiring harness will need to be checked and the PWG harness may need to be replaced based on the results of the check.

In order to effectively check the thickness of the wiring used in the PWG harness, special tool P/N 90 88 6 127 400 will be sent out via automatic tool shipment to all BMW automotive dealers. The special tool consists of:

1 - Wire gauge with a 3.95 mm slot
3 - Wire size samples (one correct size & two incorrect sizes)

The special tool must be used to check the thickness of the three individual wires that make up the PWG harness (1).

IF THE CORRECT SIZE WIRE (1) IS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE IT WILL NOT FIT INTO THE SLOT OF THE SPECIAL TEST TOOL.

If it is determined that the latest version throttle housing assembly is not installed and/or the wiring harness is too thin, the latest components need to be installed. The procedure indicated below must be followed in order to determine which repair(s) need to be made.
