Controller Area Network (CAN Line)

Controller Area Network (CAN Line):

All M44 vehicles equipped with the A4S 270 R transmission utilize CAN for DME - EGS communication. The CAN is necessary for OBD II requirements relating to CHECK ENGINE lamp activation when an emission related fault is caused by the automatic transmission. Vehicles equipped with ASC (EZA) also utilize the CAN for DME - ASC communication.

All of the following DME-EGS signals are now communicated via CAN:

- Torque reduction
- Timing retard
- Engine temperature
- Throttle position
- Engine load (ti)
- Gear selector position
- Torque converter lock-up
