Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Application and ID

S5D 310Z, (ZF type C) 5 speed manual gearbox as introduced on the 1995 M3. This manual gearbox has an increased torque rating to meet the needs of the new engine's increased torque output.

The gearbox ratios are slightly different compared with the previous Getrag S5D 250G. The final drive ratio of a manual gearbox equipped vehicle has been the changed from 3.15:1 to 2.93:1 for optimized fuel efficiency.
