Deploying / Retracting Rollover Protection Bar

DEPLOYING / RETRACTING ROLLOVER PROTECTION BAR (BMW Service Tester / MoDiC):

Requirements:
- Convertible top open and hardtop not fitted.





- Load the MODiC or BMW SERVICE TESTER.

Trigger:

Caution! Risk of injury.

- Trigger rollover bar by means of diagnostic unit: "controlling component".

NOTE: If the rollover bar fails to extend, it can be activated mechanically.

- Remove headrests.




- Place measuring strip on protective grill.
- Press rollover bar down by hand against the pawl detent.
- Read off extension height on the marks on the left side of both rollover bars.

Caution! Extension height must be 0 + 3 mm.

- If this value lies outside the tolerance, the rollover protection system (rollover bars) must be replaced.





Retraction:
1. Join together special tool and screwdriver handle (in vehicle toolkit).
2. Insert tool in left side of guide until handle locates against backrest and hold firmly.
3. Slide rollover bar down to dimension (A) (tool becomes loose).

- Remove tool and push rollover bar downwards until it locates.

Distance (A) = approx. 110 mm.
