Timing Case Cover Replace
CAUTION: Prior to disconnecting fuel lines, disconnect master relay and carefully depressurize fuel system.1. Raise and support vehicle, drain engine oil and coolant.
2. Remove oil pan as outlined under "Oil Pan, Replace."
3. Remove cylinder head cover.
4. Disconnect coolant hoses from thermostat housing and behind oil filter housing, then remove thermostat housing.
5. Remove crankshaft position sensor, then the serpentine belt and tensioner.
6. Remove water pump pulley, then the crankshaft pulley and sensor.
7. Remove crankshaft hub and bolt.
8. Drive out locating dowel pins from front cover.
9. Remove water pump, then the two bolts through the cylinder head to the front cover in cam chain well.
10. Remove bolts from front cover, then the cover.
11. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Replace all gaskets and O-rings.
b. Remove all traces of old sealant from mating surfaces.
c. Place beads of suitable sealant at joints of front cover and head gasket.
d. Position front cover to engine, then install bolts hand tight.
e. Drive in locating dowel pins, then tighten bolts in an alternating pattern.
