Data Link Connector: Description and Operation

3 Series On Board Diagnostic Connector Location:

The OBD II connector plug is located on the lower edge of the knee bolster trim panel. The connector is used for aftermarket diagnostic scan tool communication with Powertrain Control systems (DME, EGS, EML). This is for OEM compliance with the EPA/ARB OBD II requirements.
