Electronic Throttle Actuator Position Sensor: Service and Repair




Removing And Installing/Replacing Pedal Travel Sensor (M62)


Switch off ignition.
Remove lower trim from instrument panel.







Connect DIS Tester.
Measure voltage at PWG potentiometer with DIS Tester.
Technical data:
1. Pedal travel sensor in idle position: <= 0.8 V
2. Pedal travel sensor in full throttle position: 3.7 V to 4.15 V
3. Kickdown: 4.35 V to 4.55 V


NOTE: Operate accelerator pedal by hand to prevent a distortion of the measured values.







Location: The pedal travel sensor (1) is fitted to the pedal block.







Unscrew and remove control module (1) from bracket.
Release screws (2) and remove bracket.







Remove retaining ring (1).
Unhook lever.







Disconnect plug connection (1).
Unfasten screws.







Installation:
Whenever the accelerator sensor (PWG) is disconnected, basic adaptation of the accelerator sensor is required.

Procedure:
Select diagnosis of DME control unit.
For subsequent procedure, follow DIS instructions.







Installation:
Note installation position of pedal travel sensor.
Note lever position (1 and 2).







Installation:
Install bracket (1) with weld-in nuts.







Check setting of kickdown switch.
