Removing Exhaust Manifolds

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOTH LEFT EXHAUST MANIFOLDS
- Unscrew and remove splash guard.
- Remove exhaust system.
- Remove left heat baffle plate.




- Unfasten nuts from left engine mount approx. 8 mm.

Installation Note: Note guide lug (1).




Version 1 (acoustic cover screwed down)
- Pry out sealing cap. Unscrew nuts.
- Remove acoustic cover.




Version 2 (acoustic cover with press-stud fastener)
- Open press-studs (1 ... 4) one at a time, at the same time lifting the acoustic cover slightly.
- Once all four press-studs have been opened, remove the acoustic cover.

Installation Note: Position acoustic cover and press downwards until press-studs (1 ... 4) click into place.




- Prepare special tool 00 0 200 with special tool 00 0 201 / 202 / 204 / 206.

NOTE: Supports must be located on screws in both side panels.




- Lift engine forwards with special tool 00 0 200 approx. 6 - 8 mm (0.24 - 0.31 in).

NOTE: With transmission removed, engine must also be raised on flywheel end an additional 10 mm (0.39 in) approx.




- Unfasten screw connection on exhaust manifold.

NOTE: First remove the front exhaust manifold, then the rear exhaust manifold (pull downwards to remove).




Installation Note:
- Replace gaskets.
- Beads of seals face the exhaust manifold.
- Coat thread with copper paste -CRC-.
- Replace nuts.
Tightening torque, 22 - 25 Nm (16 - 18.5 ft lbs)
