63 10 004 Aiming Concealed Headlights

63 10 004 AIMING CONCEALED HEADLIGHTS

Note: Adjusting distance (e) is applicable in Germany. Conform with legislation in other countries.

Test Requirements:
- Check / correct tire pressure.
- Load down driver's seat with a person weighing about 75 kg (165 lbs.).
- Full fuel tank or additional weights in trunk.
- Vertical headlight aim control set to 0.
- Car on level floor.
- Correct adjustment of headlights to engine hood.
- Aimer set up on car's longitudinal axis and parallel to contact surface and marking line (M) set to distance (e) on the aimer.
- Distance (e) for low and high beams = 12 cm (4.724") / 10 m (33 feet).
- Distance (e) for front fog lamps = 20 cm (7.874") / 10 m (33 feet).

Explanations:
e = H-h = 12 cm (4.724")
H = Height of headlight center above contact surface
h = Height of marking line above contact surface
+ = central mark = headlight center
M =Marking line of aimer
S = Contact surface of car and aimer

Adjusting Procedure:
For the vertical adjustment the light / dark border of the low beam headlight must be aligned with the horizontal marking line of the aimer.

For the lateral adjustment the line must begin to bend below the central mark on the horizontal marking line.

The center of the high beam headlight is adjusted to the central mark.

Correct headlight aiming with the Torx adjusting screws.

A certain arrangement of adjusting screws is not possible.

1. Adjusting screw chiefly for lateral adjustments
2. Adjusting screw chiefly for vertical adjustments

Note: Always correct aiming on both adjusting screws.
