Introduction

4 Cylinder Engine:

The new M44 engine is based on the current M42 engine design, which it replaces as of the 1996 model year in all US production 4 cylinder applications. The 4 valve, twin camshaft technology is enhanced by a new 4 cylinder engine management system which features full sequential fuel injection control and advanced on-board diagnostics (OBD II).

These and other design refinements provide the following M44 engine benefits:
