Torque Convertor


Removing and installing/replacing torque converter

Refer to removing transmission. Removing and Installing Automatic Transmission





Carefully pull torque converter out of primary pump with special tool 24 4 000.

Note: Escaping automatic transmission fluid.





Install torque converter:

Caution: Make sure converter bearings and seal are not damaged while guiding in. Insert torque converter as far as stop.

Push torque converter through radial sealing ring up to first detent position on transmission input shaft.
Manually push and turn the torque converter into the converter bell housing until the recess of the converter hub rests in the drive plate of the pump wheel and the torque converter perceptibly slides in.
The torque converter is properly installed when the distance between the contact surface of the threaded converter fitting on the torque converter and the end face of the converter bell housing is approx. 31 mm.
