DISA

DISA:

The M44 engine continues to utilize the DISA intake manifold system. DISA allows the M44 to optimize the benefits of both long and short intake runners to maximize the torque output of the engine over the entire RPM range.

The design of the DISA components have changed slightly. The DISA flap. vacuum actuator. solenoid and vacuum reservoir are now one combined assembly that is mounted in a plastic housing. The intake manifold has been redesigned to allow the DISA assembly to be bolted in place. If any of the DISA components becomes defective, the entire assembly is replaced. This prevents the unnecessary replacement of the lower intake manifold section if there is a problem with the changeover valve plate.

The DISA system continues to be an output control function of the engine management system. Control and operating parameters for DISA are slightly changed from the M42 engine. The engine speed at which the DISA flap opens is now 4200 RPM. The M42 DISA system opens at 4800 RPM.
