Checking Wheel on Balancing Machine For Face and Radial Runout
Checking one road wheel on balancing machine for face and radial runout (wheel removed)
Remove wheel, refer to Removing or Installing Front or Rear Wheel.
Mount wheel in balancing machine. In order to avoid transformation errors, the wheel must be mounted on the balancing machine in the same manner as subsequently mounted on the car (e.g. valve facing down).
Use suitable wheel centre supplied with corresponding balancing machine.

Fit special tool 36 1 000 (measuring fixture) to tread of tire.
Turn wheel by hand and measure max. tire radial runout, refer to Specifications.
Note: Special tool must be perpendicular to tire tread surface
Fit special tool 36 1 000 (measuring fixture) to flank of tire.
Turn wheel by hand and measure max. tire face runout refer to Specifications
Note:
Special tool must be perpendicular to side wall of tire.
Never measure on printed text on tire!
If necessary, check disc wheel (rim) for top runout and face runout, refer to Checking Rim For Face And Radial Runout.
