Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Description and Operation

The cylinder head cover has been modified as follows:
- The cylinder head cover is made of plastic. The oil filler cap has been moved to the front of the cover.
- The crankcase breather and chamber are modified to operate with the M6O/M44 style breather.

Cylinder Head Cover/Crankcase Breather:

A cyclone design oil separator is used in place of the labyrinth in the cover. The cyclone separator is more effective in oil separation due to its free standing position outside the cylinder head cover. The cooler air flowing around the separator promotes more oil separation. The condensed oil drains back into the crankcase through the oil dipstick tube.

The breather is regulated by crankcase and spring pressure. During periods of high crankcase pressure (high load), the valve is forced open and the blow-by gasses are fed into the intake manifold.

At idle, the spring overcomes the blow-by pressure and forces the valve closed.
