M62/M5.2

540i - 4.4 Liter, M62 Engine






The M62 - 4.4 liter engine wilt be installed in the 540i. The engine is carried over from the 1996 740iL and conforms to the 1997 OBD II standards for emission control monitoring.

The Bosch M5.2 engine management system will be used for fuel injection and ignition control. Detailed information on the engine and M5.2 system is found in the M62 handout.

Standard equipment on the 540i will be the A5S 560 Z five speed automatic transmission. The transmission will continue to use the AGS adaptive transmission control.

The 540i sport version comes equipped with the 6-speed standard transmission and sports suspension package.
