Windshield Wiper Linkage












The E39 uses the articulating wiper linkage assembly introduced on the E38.

The articulation of the passenger side arm provides the extended sweep of the wiper blade, This maximizes the driver's view in inclement weather. The passenger side wiper arm has two pivots. The pivot at the extreme right is an idler and the drive pivot is in the center.

The Driver's side wiper arm now incorporates an angle adjustment at the drive pivot mount.

Special tool 90 88 6 009 230 is used in conjunction with the adjuster to align the blade angle with the glass. Reference Service Information bulletin 04 14 95 (4242) for more information.

The arm is adjusted by loosening the bolt and turning the blade assembly to the proper angle.
