Brake Pedal Sensor

Brake Pedal Sensor (Electronic Brake Light Switch)

Introduced on the 1995 E38, the brake light switch/brake test switch configuration was replaced by a hall effect transmitter with power/ground circuits and one output signal wire. The electronic sensor eliminates the need for the brake test switch.

When the pedal is depressed a high signal is sent to the AGS control module signifying brake apply. With the pedal in the up position a low signal is present.

If the brake pedal sensor or it's circuits become impaired, the brake lights will be on continuously from KL R.
