Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Replacing sensor for cylinder recognition (camshaft sensor) (M60, M62)


Interrogate fault memory.
Switch off ignition.
Remove acoustic cover:

Version 1:





- Remove seal caps (1) and unfasten nuts (2).
- Remove acoustic cover.

Version 2:

Version 2: (acoustic cover with press-stud fastener):

- Open press-studs (1 ... 4) one at a time, at the same time lifting the acoustic cover slightly. Once all four press-studs have been opened, remove the acoustic cover.

Installation Note: Position acoustic cover and press downwards until press-studs (1 ... 4) click into place.




- Disconnect plug-in connection (3).




- Unscrew screw.
- Remove sensor.

Installation Note: Check seal for damage: replace if damaged.





Installation Note: Note line routing on injection tube.

- Secure line with cable connector.
- Interrogate fault memory of control unit on Digital Engine Electronics (DME), check fault messages in memory, rectify faults and cancel fault memory.
