Fused Power Distribution Centers

Fused Power Distribution Centers

Along with the standard fuse box located in the E-box and the auxiliary fuse block in the right rear of the trunk (above battery), the E38 also utilizes a new type of fuse system at two locations in the vehicle.

The fuses are high amp rated to protect large numbers of consumers on each circuit. To distinguish the differences in the two types of fuses in the car the new fuse locations are called Fused Power Distribution Centers.

The fuse centers are located in the following locations:

- Rear Power Distribution Center

The rear power distribution center is located forward of the battery in the trunk.

It houses six fuses ranging from 50 to 200 amps.

- Front Power Distribution Center

Located under the carpet, forward of the front seat on the front passenger's side of the vehicle is the front power distribution center. It houses eight fuses ranging from 50 to 80 amps.

To access the distribution center, pull the carpet away from the door sill and pull the floor sound insulation away.
