The E38 is equipped with an all new, patented multi-link rear suspension. The 4 link integral rear suspension configuration consists of:

The massive rear suspension subframe is mounted to the body with four large rubber bushings (two per side). As before the differential is mounted to the subframe with rubber dampers. Using rubber dampers to this degree greatly reduces interior noise and vibration.

As compared with the E31 multilink suspension system, the E38 system is more compact and is simplified in operation. The E38 system provides precise control of rear wheel angles giving stable, responsive handling with a comfortable ride.


Rear Suspension Adjustments







Camber and Toe angle are the only approved rear suspension adjustments. Note the following locations
