Headlamp: Testing and Inspection
Check tire pressure and correct if necessary.Apply load equivalent to one person on driver's seat (approx. 75 kg).
Car's fuel tank full or additional weight in trunk. Headlight vertical aim control set to 0.
Car parked on level ground.
Correct adjustment of headlights to engine hood. A1ign aimer with vehicle longitudinal axis and parallel to parking surface. Set marking line (M) on aimer to distance (e). Scale graduations on aimer are equal to a gradient in cm at a distance of 10 meters.
Important!
On vehicles with xenon headlights and automatic vertical aim control, wait for approx. 30 seconds after switching on to ensure that vertical aim control has adapted to correct value.
Light-dark border of the low-beam headlights on a vertical wall or in the adjusting device
e 10 cm for vehicles with headlight vertical aim adjuster or Ellypsoit-headlights.
e 12 cm for vehicles with normal asymmetrical headlights.
H Height of center of headlight above parking surface.
h H - e Height of marking line above parking surface.
+ Central mark = center point of high-beam headlight.
M Marking line on aimer.
S Parking area for vehicle and adjustment equipment.
Figure shows a marking line on a vertical wall 10 meters away from headlight-glass lenses. The same figure is also in the adjusting device on an adjustable plate.
NOTE:
Adjusting procedures:
For vertical adjustment, the light/dark border of the low-beam headlight must be aligned with the horizontal marking line of the adjusting device. During lateral adjustment, the line bending point must start below the central mark on the horizontal marking line.
Adjusting distance (e) is valid for Germany and may be different in other countries.
The center of the high-beam headlight is adjusted to the central mark.
