M62 - M5.2 Inputs
The following inputs carry over from the M5.2 system on the M73 and M44 engines:Hot Film Air Mass Sensor:
- Hot film air mass sensor signal. Varying 1 to 5 volt DC signal representing intake air mass.
Crankshaft Position Sensor:
- Crankshaft Position Sensor - inductive pulse generator scans incremental gear wheel monitoring engine speed and crankshaft position. Also used to detect engine misfire.
Camshaft Position Sensor:
- Camshaft Position Sensor signal - Hall sensor in put. Provides a reliable low voltage indication of camshaft position.
Throttle Position Sensor:
- Throttle Position Sensor signal - variable 1 to 5 volt DC signal provides accurate throttle position.
Oxygen Sensor:
- Oxygen sensor signals - four inputs; 2 pre and 2 post catalyst signals. The pre catalyst signals provide an induced voltage signal from 0.2 to 0.8 volts representing oxygen content in exhaust prior to entry of catalyst. The post catalyst signals provide a similar signal representing oxygen content after the catalyst for OBD II compliance.
Engine Temperature Sensor:
- Engine temperature sensor signal - NTC sensor provides varied resistance value equating to coolant temperature. Voltage drop across sensor provides varied voltage signal of 1 to 5 volts.
Air Temperature Sensor:
- Air temperature sensor signal - NTC sensor provides varied resistance value equating to intake air temperature. Voltage drop across sensor provides varied voltage signal of 1 to 5 volts.
Knock Sensor:
- Knock sensor signals - four variable DC voltage signals representing combustion knock.
Fuel Level Sensor:
- Fuel level sensor input - low fuel signal from the cluster. Standing voltage in [1][2]DME is pulled low by instrument cluster when fuel quantity drops to 4 liters in fuel tank. Used for misfire detection.
